John Garlid
Biographical Info
John Kermit Garlid hails from Cos Cob, Connecticut, where he began his vocal journey as a treble in the Men and Boys choir at Christ Church, Greenwich. His passion for music led him to Bard College in New York’s Hudson Valley, where he immersed himself in experimental music and recording engineering, guided by Marina Rosenfeld, Richard Teitelbaum, and James Bagwell.
Seattle became his new home, where he now works as a union stagehand and actively participates in both the Evensong and Compline Choirs at Saint Mark’s Cathedral. Additionally, he takes on the roles of staff singer and music librarian at Epiphany Parish in Madrona, while studying voice under the guidance of esteemed countertenor José Luis Muñoz.
Alongside his harmonic pursuits, John finds great joy in exploring Washington’s rugged peaks and glaciated volcanoes, relishing the beauty of nature’s grandeur; all while doing his best to tend his own garden at home in Leschi. He nurtures a passion for producing electronic music and joins in regular nights of dancing with friends.
