England Pilgrimage 2024

In August 2024, the Compline Choir will make a third pilgrimage (the first was taken in 2000, the second in 2019) to three of England’s most storied and historic cathedrals: Saint Alban’s, Saint Paul’s, and Canterbury. At Saint Alban’s, we will reconnect with The Very Rev. Jo Kelly-Moore, who served as Archdeacon at Canterbury and led us on a transformative candlelit pilgrimage when we visited in 2019. Saint Paul’s, with Wren’s dome, is the mother church for the Diocese of London, and we were specifically invited to take up residency. Canterbury is significant because it served as a spiritual home and place of learning for our founder, Dr. Peter Hallock, during his formative years as a musical leader of the Episcopal Church, and we were privileged to pray and sing the office of compline in the crypt in 2000 and again in 2019.

Our time in these three places will include rehearsal, prayer, study, community building, and some sight-seeing. Our hope is to deepen connections with our Anglican roots, share music unique to the Pacific Northwest and Saint Mark’s Cathedral, and establish lasting relationships with the people we encounter.

In order that all from the Compline Choir that want to go may join on our pilgrimage, we need your help!

Our total scholarship need is $41,500 and as of April 30, 2024, we have raised $40,352. We are only $1,148 away from meeting our goal! You can donate to us directly by clicking on the button below. Please select “England Pilgrimage” as the purpose of your gift.

You may also send us a check with “England Pilgrimage” written in the memo line to: The Compline Choir, 1245 10th Ave E, Seattle, WA  98102. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
