Let Your Alleluias Rise

Sat., Apr. 20 at 7:30 PM in Shoreline, and Sun., Apr. 21 at 3 PM on Mercer Island

Let Your Alleluias Rise, a program of readings and musical offerings for Eastertide in support of The Compline Choir’s August 2024 pilgrimage to England, features music by Thomas Foster, Alice Parker, Peter Hallock, Bobby McFerrin, Jeff Junkinsmith, and Jacob Beranek.

In 2019 and 2022, we commissioned Alice Parker to compose two works on the commandment to love—Love Never Ends and Love One Another. These two works, together with her Beloved, let us love one another, will serve as the keystone for this concert. The U.S. premiere of Abendgebet by Jacob Beranek, a virtuosic setting a well-known prayer by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, opens the concert.

Two identical concerts will be offered:

  • Saturday, April 20, at 7:30 PM at First Lutheran Church, Richmond Beach [Map It]
  • Sunday, April 21, at 3:00 PM at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Mercer Island [Map It]

There is no charge for these concerts; a free will offering will be taken. We hope you will support us by attending these concerts or making a donation in support of our pilgrimage.

Land Acknowledgement

The Compline Choir, a shared ministry with The Peter R. Hallock Institute, Saint Mark’s Cathedral, and the Diocese of Olympia, acknowledges that we gather on the traditional lands of the first people of Seattle, the Duwamish People, who are still here, and we honor with gratitude the land itself and the life of all the Coast Salish Tribes.
